Waste Receiving Procedures

The facility continues its activities in accordance with the ’Regulation on Waste Collection and Waste Control from Ships’.

Environmental Permits and Licenses are available within the scope of Waste Receiving Activities.

The waste reception facility offers waste reception services to ships within the scope of Marpol 73/78.

The total liquid waste storage capacity of the facility is 480 m3.

The facility accepts Marpol ANNEX I (Bilge, Sludge, Waste Oils) ANNEX II, ANNEX IV, and ANNEX V waste.

Waste from ships is taken by land tankers and brought to the facility.

Waste taken from ships is temporarily stored at the facility, and these stored wastes are sent to waste disposal facilities licensed for environmental permission.

Bilge Water

(MARPOL Annex-I)

Bilge water originating from ships taken to the waste acceptance facility in accordance with Annex 1 of the Marpol 73/78 contract is divided into 2 as separated bilge oil and water after its decomposition by heating and separation processes. After the resulting bilge water is processed through the resting and chemical treatment unit, it is discharged into the ASAT sewer system by passing the flow meter (with a system monitored online by ASAT). After the category analysis of bilge oil waste, the disposal or recovery methods specified in the Waste Management Administration are determined.   It is transferred using Motat system, by the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanism together with a commission established with the relevant institutions to the environmental licensed waste disposal – recovery company.
Sludge (MARPOL Annex-1) Under Marpol 73/78 convention Annex 1, fuel sludge waste stemming from the ships taken to the waste acceptance facility is directly transferred with environment-licensed ships under the commission formed by the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization using Motat system to a licensed waste disposal company.
Waste oil

(MARPOL Annex-1)

After analyzing the category of waste oil received in the tank at the waste acceptance facility in accordance with Annex 1 of the Marpol 73/78 contract, the methods of disposal or recovery specified in the Waste Management Regulation are determined.   It is transferred using Motat system, by the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanism together with a commission established with the relevant institutions to the environmental licensed waste disposal – recovery company.
Toxic Liquid Wastes

 

(Category (Y) according to Marpol Annex-2 )

Liquid waste made of methanol, which is planned to be handled in accordance with the EMS code, is taken in accordance with MARPOL Annex-II and temporarily stored in a 50 m3 tank in accordance with OHS and environmental sensitivities and is disposed of in accordance with the Environmental Law and related legislation.

Liquid cargo waste methanol MARPOL 73/78 planned for handling at the port is described in Annex 2.

Explanation:

Category Y: Toxic liquid substances that justify the limitation of the nature and amount of discharge into the marine environment, assuming that they pose an extreme danger to marine resources or to human health or harm to the facilities provided by the sea or to any other legal uses when discharged into the sea during tank cleaning or ballast operations.

In case of a request from sea vehicles docked at the port dock for taking sewage (domestic wastewater); It is taken with a sewage truck, which is in an agreement with ASAT, and taken to the sewerage system or to the central Wastewater Treatment Plant under Antalya Water and Sewerage Administration’s (ASAT) control. If it is not taken with a sewage truck, it is discharged to the wastewater container determined by ASAT under the supervision and control of ASAT authorities and given to the sewer system.

Garbage

(MARPOL Annex-5)

A – Plastic, Recycling facilities are provided by recycling companies due to its agreement with Konyaaltı Municipality.
B – Food Leftovers Transferred by Konyaalti Municipality solid waste collection

vehicles to Antalya Metropolitan Municipality solid waste storage facility

C – Domestic Waste; Paper Products

Glass, Metal,Bottle-Plate, Rags

Paper products:

Recycling and transportation is carried out by Konyaaltı Municipality.

Glass:

Recycling and transportation is carried out by Konyaaltı Municipality.

Metal:

Recycling and transportation is carried out by Konyaaltı Municipality.

Bottle-Plate :

Recycling and transportation is carried out by Konyaaltı Municipality.

Rag:

Transferred regularly to Antalya Metropolitan Municipality solid waste storage facility by Konyaalti Municipality collection vehicles.

D – Cooking Oil Cooking oil collected from  ships and storage in waste oil barrels. After that sent to licensed companies for disposal.
E – Incinerator ash It will be regularly transferred to Antalya Metropolitan Municipality solid waste storage facility by solid waste collection vehicles.
F – Operational wastes Waste generated as a result of loading/unloading operations is sent by taking into account the legislation and practices enacted on the basis of the Environmental Law. Under the scope of the operational waste;

Waste paints and varnishes and sludges containing organic solvents or other hazardous substances, Waste paints and varnishes, Waste printing toner containing dangerous substances, Packaging that contains the residues of hazardous substances or contaminated with hazardous substances, Metallic packaging containing hazardous porous solid structure (e.g. asbestos) including empty pressurized containers, Absorbents contaminated with hazardous substances,  filter materials (oil filters if not otherwise specified), cleaning cloths, protective clothing, Waste Oil filters,

Antifreeze fluids containing hazardous substances, Lead batteries and accumulators, Nickel cadmium batteries, batteries containing  mercury, Electrolytes collected separately from batteries and accumulators, wood, glass and plastic containing or contaminated with Hazardous substances, metal waste contaminated with hazardous substances, Oil, cables containing tar and other dangerous substances and other hazardous or non-hazardous wastes from ship operations (maintenance-repair, etc.) will be collected from the ships and sent by taking into account the legislation and practices put into effect based on the Environmental Law.

G – Cargo Residues
Solid load waste Bulk Load: (Solid load waste)

Large-scale casualty debris caused by the handling of small amounts of cement, clinker, coal residue fertilizer, etc.is not stored, it is sent directly back to the relevant company. Garbage waste generated during loading is taken by cleaning tool and stored in the garbage (non-hazardous waste storage) area where field cleaning waste is stored. Transferred regularly to Antalya Metropolitan Municipality solid waste storage facility by Konyaalti Municipality collection vehicles.

General Cargo:

In case of excess load and casualties, the relevant company provides the facility.

Container:

No cargo residue. In case of casualties, the relevant company provides the facility.

Liquid cargo waste Packed liquid cargo within the scope of IMGD Code, which is loaded/unloaded at the port, is transported in the container. There is no formation and intake of waste from packaged liquid loads under Category G. In case of a spill, leakage, etc. during the handling process and in case of waste formation, the container containing the packed product is stored in the leak container in the IMDG area in accordance with OHS and environmental sensitivities and is disposed of in accordance with the Environmental Law and related legislation.
H – Animal Carcasses There is no reception and storage of animal carcasses within the facility area. In case of request from the ships, necessary notices will be sent to the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning and will be disposed of in accordance with the Environmental Law and related legislation.
I – Fishing gear (fishing net, fishing rodetc.) Fishing gear (fishing net, fishing rod, etc.) does not have purchase and storage.

Category A [Plastic],  Category B [Food Wastes], Category C [Domestic Wastes (e.g. paper, rags, glass, metals, bottles, plates, etc.)], Category D [Cooking Oils (used and expired oils)] Category E [Incinerator Ashes], Category F [Operational waste] wastes to be delivered to the waste acceptance facility from ships in accordance with the Marpol Annex-5 rules are stored in temporary storage areas within the coastal facility according to the waste legislation in force and sent for disposal in accordance with the legislation.
